2012 - 2013

The Birth Of Silver Star

Silver Star Metals was founded in 2012 by the Martin family with the goal of starting a small repair shop for agricultural equipment. With just $1,200 and a few tools from a farm auction, they set up shop in a building next to their dairy farm. The name came from their dairy operation, Silver Star Holsteins. That first year, the company began by repairing ag baggers, handling small ag repair jobs, and doing custom welding for a local skid steer attachment manufacturer.

In 2013, the business expanded, completing the other half of their shop and hiring additional employees to meet growing demand.

2014 - 2018

Silver Stars Growing Pains

By 2014, after two dry years left them short on feed, the Martins ended their dairying career to focus fully on the metal shop. They also added a CNC plasma table to bring more production work in-house. Around the same time, they identified a need on their own farm for a better bale bedding solution. When they couldn’t find a product that worked, they designed their own—the Silver Star Bale Bedder. After research and development, it became the first in a growing line of skid steer attachments, all developed based on practical, real-world needs.

As production continued to grow, space became limited. In the fall of 2018, they built a new facility on their property, just a mile from their original shop, with benefits like blacktop road access and 3-phase power for industrial machinery.
